Why is My Heat Pump in Lubbock, TX, Stuck in Cooling Mode?
Coming home to a cold house in winter is very frustrating. Various heat pump issues lower a system’s effectiveness, making it unable to satisfy your indoor temperature needs. If your Lubbock, TX, heat pump blows cool air while in heating mode, you’re probably dealing with one of the following three issues.
Thermostat Issues
When you input your desired temperature, the thermostat signals the heat pump to start working. The thermostat relays this information through wires. If the thermostat or those wires suffer damage, your heat pump can’t receive accurate information.
There’s also a chance that you’re misusing your thermostat’s fan mode. Make sure the fan is in “Auto” mode to ensure that it only operates when the heat runs.
A Faulty Reversing Valve
The reversing valve gives your heat pump the capacity to carry out both heating and cooling functions. During the hot months, the valve allows the refrigerant to move heat from the indoor to the outdoor coil.
When the heating season comes, the valve prompts the fluid to start moving heat from the outdoor coil to the indoor coil. Therefore, if the reversing valve malfunctions, the refrigerant will continue moving heat out of your house rather than bringing in heat.
A Clogged Air Filter
An air filter keeps the indoor air clean by catching contaminants causing indoor air quality problems. Inevitably, these contaminants clog your filter with time.
Since the clogged air filter doesn’t allow the heat pump to draw enough air from your house, the system only heats very little air. Change your air filter often to allow enough air to enter your heating and cooling system.
Fortunately, our experienced technicians can handle all the issues that make your system fail to warm your house. Call Integra Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning for quality heating services whenever the need arises.
